Introduction
A fantastic and very warm afternoon session spent at Newark Northgate on the East Coast Mainline where we see services from London Northeastern Railway, Hull Trains, Grand Central, Lumo and West Coast Railways.
The station was opened in 1852 but unlike other stations along the line it wasn't done so with a ceremony of sorts taking place. It was opened and then on the same day recieved its first up and down train.
The layout hasn't changed, the original station yard housed a coal depot, goods warehouse and an engine shed that could house 4 locos at any one time.
This is now the site of the horribly overgrown sidings.
My next station will be Grantham on the East Coast Mainline.
Joining me today was AB Trains and East London Transport.
