How can a conspiracy theory about pizza can blow up millions of views in YouTube?

Shane Dawson is a popular internet personality with over 20 million subscribers in his YouTube channel and just a few days ago has released a video from his popular series “Conspiracy Theories with Shane Dawson”, in only 72 hours this video has exploded with more than 18 million views and the main attraction of the chapter: Chuck E. Cheese’s misshapen pizzas.

Apparently, there have been claims and concerns for years that the famous restaurant “recycles” pieces from leftovers and reshape them into new pizzas. Although there is no substantial proof of the accusations, the rumors have transcended the unimaginable following the “theory” proposed by the YouTube sensation.

After the unproven theory was spread all around social media, many speculations have been posted, and even current and former employees have been the center of the fire by customers concerned by the allegations. The company has released a statement refuting the “conspiracy” sustaining that the claims made on the video are “unequivocally false” and that “the pizzas are prepared fresh in the restaurant, which means that they’re not always perfectly uniform in shape, but always delicious.”

It is still uncertain if Chuck E. Cheese is going to take any legal actions against the personality for the unproven theory. However, it is clear how big of a stage YouTube has become to spread all kind of messages and how having the right outlet can raise interest in even the biggest market there is.
